Cody Garbrandt Says Dominick Cruz Is Running From Him

Cody Garbrandt is targeting Dominick Cruz, TJ Dillashaw, and virtually everybody else at 135 pounds.

The #8-ranked Bantamweight Garbrandt has angled for a fight with Cruz, and has had the help of teammate Urijah Faber in hyping it up. On last week’s episode of Inside MMA, Garbrandt was pretty outspoken when talking about Cruz, criticizing his power. Garbrandt was also quick to trash former Team Alpha Male teammate TJ Dillashaw.

“Cruz can’t knock anybody out. He’s got grapes for hands. Dominick knows that I’m coming for him. He’s the champion so he has an X on his back, but I’m in his head and he knows he doesn’t want to fight me. That’s why he wants to talk about moving up to [145] and fighting some other people. He’s trying to either get out of the division or retire before he has to fight me. TJ too. He can get it too. TJ, Dominick, all those guys can get it. They talk sh*t but they know the real truth. They know I’m the lion in this division and I’m coming to eat them all,” said Garbrandt.

Garbrandt elaborated on his dislike for Cruz, saying that Cruz is not a true fighter, and that he’s not a fan of the ‘Cruz style.’

“The guy’s a dork. He’s a point fighter, he goes in there trying to point and take everyone to decisions. He doesn’t go in there and be a true fighter. He goes in there and just tries to out point people. This is the fight game. We come out here for finishes,” Garbrandt said.

Garbrandt takes on #11-ranked bantamweight Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 203 on September 10 in Cleveland, Ohio.
