WWE RAW (5/15/23) Results: Cody Rhodes To Appear, Intercontinental Title Contender Battle Royal

– Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn open the show. Sami says they learned just like everybody else that they would be defending their Tag Team Championship against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa at WWE Night of Champions by watching SmackDown. Sami Zayn says Roman Reigns is pushing everybody too hard, and despite being a maniac and manipulator, he will not become Tag Team Champion.
Judgment Day interrupts. Kevin wants to skip straight to the fighting, but Sami Zayn vows to hear them out. Finn says that if they should retain their Tag Team Championship by some miracle, a whole line of superstars will be waiting. Sami Zayn wants to hear from Dom Mysterio. Kevin can’t listen to him over the sound of the audience booing and goes to just punch Mysterio in the face. Ripley steps in front of her man,, leading to Priest hitting Kevin Owens.
Sami Zayn comes running in for the save with a steel chair. A tag team match is made for later.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. The Miz
Nakamura has control, landing some well-placed knee strikes. However, going to the first commercial break of the match, The Miz hits a neckbreaker on the middle rope and takes charge of the match.
Back from break, Miz is still in control and gets his near fall with his signature DDT. Nakamura takes control with an arm bar. Miz avoids a Kinshasa. He hits a Skull-Crushing Finale, but Nakamura gets his foot on the ropes. Nakamura eventually can hit a successful Kinshasa for the victory.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura.
– Adam Pearce confirms there will be no women’s Tag Team Championship bout. Instead, Chelsea Green will face Raquel Rodriguez because Liv Morgan is injured.
– GUNTHER making his way to the ring.
– Seth Rollins recaps his career with Corey Graves. These segments will continue throughout the night.
– GUNTHER arrives and wants to see who will face him for his Intercontinental Championship.
Intercontinental Title Top Contender Battle Royal
Dolph Ziggler eliminated JD McDonagh. Von Wagner eliminated Dolph Ziggler. Thanks to some interference from Imperium, Matt Riddle was eliminated. Mustafa Ali would win by eliminating Bronson Reed while Ricochet was on his back and getting eliminated.
Winner and facing Gunther at WWE Night Night of Champions: Mustafa Ali.
– Becky Lynch is shown walking to the ring. In the background, Paul Heyman is conversating with the Judgment Day.
– Becky Lynch says Trish Stratus awakened the fire in her, and she thinks her for that. So she wants to kick Trish’s head in at WWE Night of Champions.
– Rhea Ripley is asked about being confronted by Natalya last week. Nattie confronts Rhea backstage and says she’s not respecting the roster.
– Mustafa Ali runs into Gunther backstage and says he will humiliate him at WWE Night of Champions.
Xavier Woods vs. Dominik Mysterio
Woods gets his knees up as Dominik tries a Frog Splash. Xavier hits a gorilla press gutbuster. Dominik kicks out. Woods tries the Limit Breaker, but Ripley pulls Dominik out of the ring. Woods throws Dominik back into the ring. Ripley attacks Woods from behind. Dominik rolls up Woods for the win.
Winner: Dominik Mysterio.
– A JD McDonagh vignette runs. He was then as quickly interviewed by Cathy Kelley. He tells her that he targeted Dolph Ziggler because he wants to make an impact.
Indus Sher in action.
Rapid match versus unnamed opponents. Veer and Sanga get the victory with Demolition’s old finishing move. Jinder Mahal cuts a promo in Hindi and then tells the commentary team that they will run Mondays from now on.
Winners: Indus Sher
– Gunther and Imperium interrupt Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn talking. Gunther wants to face them next week. Sami Zayn says they will find a partner.
– Cody Rhodes reiterates that he accepts Brock Lesnar’s challenge at WWE Night of Champions. Cody says that Brock would have hunted him no matter what because their issue is about who is the top dog on Monday Night Raw.
Raquel Rodriguez vs. Chelsea Green
Chelsea Green hit a backstabber, and she would try her best to take Raquel to the limit, but Raquel would overpower her. She had a couple of Fall Away slams and won after hitting the Chingona Bomb.
Winner: Raquel Rodriguez
– After the match, Raquel Rodriguez was attacked by Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler
– Zoey Stark is backstage picking on Nikki Cross. Candice LeRae defends her. Next week, Stark vs. LeRae
– Paul Heyman is shown shaking hands with Imperium and then calling Roman Reigns on the phone. He has a visitor’s pass. That’s why he can go to Raw.
Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs. Judgment Day (Finn Balor & Damian Priest)
A back-and-forth start. Dom and Ripley join their Judgment Day counterparts as Monday Night Raw goes to commercial.
After the commercial break, Judgment Day is working over Zayn. Kevin Owens hits a Senton outside the ring before throwing Damian back inside. Kevin Owens hits the ropes, but when Mysterio trips him from the outside, the referee ejects him and Ripley. As Mysterio walks up the ramp, Xavier Woods comes out to attack him.
Paul Heyman comes out and smiles. He is still talking on the phone, presumably to Roman Reigns. After another commercial break, Judgment Day is in control. Kevin Owens eventually comes back and hits a Swanton on Priest. Priest and Owens tag out. Sami Zayn hits a Michinoku driver on Finn Balor, who kicks out. Balor hits a sling blade. Sami Zayn reverses his dropkick with a blue thunder bomb. Balor kicks out. Out comes Imperium. Finn Balor hits the final cut on Sami Zayn. Damien Priest hits the South of Heaven on Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens hits Prest with the Stunner. Sami Zayn hits a Helluva Kick. Imperium distracts the referee. Sami Zayn goes for another kick, but Gunther grabs him. Finn Balor hits the Coup de Grace for the win.
Winner: Judgment Day
