Retiring Derrick Lewis Walks Away With Extra Cash; UFC Auckland Bonuses, Live Gate And Attendance Announced

Upon first impression, it would appear UFC's show from Auckland was a success.

The event from Auckland, New Zealand on June 11 locally did an attendance of 8,649 fans for a live gate of $1,150,428 New Zealand Dollars. For reference, that translates to about $829,741 USD.

$200,000 of that went back to the fighters for bonuses, as the newly retired Derrick Lewis and veteran Mark Hunt each took home $50,000 for "Fight of the Night" honors. While Lewis' retirement was surprising, the heavyweight has earned well over $425,000 in disclosed pay, bonuses and Reebok outfitting money since February 2016.

Ben Nguyen earned a $50,000 "Performance of the Night" bonus for quickly submitting Tim Elliott, and Dan Hooker landed 50k of his own for likely ending the UFC career of Ross Pearson with a knockout.
