DC Happy That Jon Jones Cannot Cheat At UFC 214
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is defending his title in a rematch against former champion Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 214.
DC is a happy camper knowing that the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) is monitoring Jones as they head into their main event fight.
“You heard Alexander Gustafsson now is saying he believes that Jon was enhanced throughout his career,” Cormier said to MMA Fighting. “But before, we had no sanctioning body like USADA. USADA now is on top of all that, so I do believe that we will see a different fighter in Anaheim, because I do believe he’ll have to be clean this time, otherwise he’ll be caught.”
Cormier lost to Jones in their first encounter at UFC 182, but a planned rematch at UFC 200 was scrapped after Jones failed a drug test just days before the event.
The champion also believes that after Jones fought Ovince St. Preux at UFC 197, a change back to the dark side was coming for him.
“I think he fought Ovince Saint Preux clean, and he didn’t like the way he felt,” Cormier said, “and tried to do something again dirty, and he got caught at UFC 200.”
UFC 214 takes place on Saturday, July 29 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
