AEW Dynamite (4/26) Preview: Another Tony Khan Announcement, Two Title Bouts, More Set For Sunrise

It’s Wednesday, April 26, 2023, and you know what that means!

It’s time to break down the April 26 episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS.

This episode will feature excellent championship matches, a major announcement from Tony Khan, Jeff Jarrett in action, and more.

Here’s everything you need to know before the latest AEW Dynamite on TBS.

Omega & Takeshita Team Up

Kenny Omega will team with Konosuke Takeshita against The Butcher & The Blade. For the team that Don Callis has dubbed “The Golden Brothers” tonight’s match is an opportunity to further build trust amongst Omega and honorary Eltie member, Takeshita. Still, Butcher & Blade back down from a good fight and are looking forward to smashing a former World Champion and his Cinnabon buddy.

FTR’s Dax Harwood Steps Into A Ring With The King Of The Mountain

On April 26, Dax Harwood will go one-on-one with The King of the Mountain, Jeff Jarrett. Harwood and Jarrett were just on the same team on the most recent episode of AEW Rampage but some miscommunication issues have now led to both men wanting to settle their differences in the ring. Though his time in the company is short-lived, Double J continues to establish himself as a threat to anyone holding gold, and perhaps the victory year can open the door to yet another Tag Team Championship opportunity for Jeff Jarrett. Harwood on the other hand is playing for the love of the game and while he may have a lot of respect for Jeff Jarett, he’s looking to guarantee that Jeff Jarrett walks away respecting him.

Orange Cassidy Won’t Back Down

Orange Cassidy is once again looking to defend his AEW International Championship. This time, he will be challenged by Bandido. Bandido recently got his Visa issues sorted and this will be his first attempt at trying to wrestle away AEW gold from someone. The underlying story of this bout and many of the recent Cassidy title defenses is the continued questioning regarding Cassidy’s conditioning and whether or not he will break after having put himself through so many grueling Championship matches. He continues to show more signs of wear and tear but just as much heart and determination to keep on fighting through. Once again, something’s got to give. Bandido hopes that something will be Orange Cassidy’s grip on this Championship.

Taya Valkyrie Looks To Break The Streak

It’s finally going down, Taya Valkyrie vs. Jade Cargill for the AEW TBS Title. While Valkyrie may be the toughest opponent yet for the only TBS Champion in history, she will be one major gun in her arsenal as she is not allowed to use The Road to Valhalla in this match. Jade has yet to even lose a single match and continues to gain experience with each outing. However, even though her finishing move may have been taken away, Taya is a wiley veteran of The Craft and will certainly have more than one way to capture the title in mind. Something’s got to give between these two women and we may see what gives first when they clash for the first time ever.

MJF’s Double or Nothing Opponent Will Be Decided

In the finals of the short “Pillars Tournament,” Darby Allin will take on Sammy Guevara to determine who will challenge Maxwell Jacob Friedman for the AEW World Title on Sunday, May 28 at AEW Double or Nothing. MJF is trying to have the easiest night possible at Double or Nothing and has already seemingly struck a deal with Sammy Guevara that may cost him a pretty penny but keep the Triple B around his waist. Max helped Sammy get by Jack Perry last week and it remains to be seen what he will do to make sure that Darby doesn’t make it to Las Vegas.

We Will Hear From Tony Khan, Wardlow, And Adam Cole

Another week, another AEW Dynamite featuring a major announcement from Tony Khan. With summer on the horizon and plenty of rumors abound of what that could mean for All Elite Wrestling, TK could set the stage for the summer with his announcement tonight. In any case, all eyes will be on Dynamite waiting to hear what Tony says next.

Also speaking on April 26 will be Adam Cole. One week ago Chris Jericho made their issue very personal as he aligned himself with Saraya and The Outcasts, who would go on to attack Britt Baker right in front of her boyfriend, the aforementioned Adam Cole. Cole has already vowed vengeance and what he has to say on Dynamite could be his first step towards honoring his vow.

Wardlow and Arn Anderson will also have something to say just seven days after Wardlow recaptured the TNT Title for a third time. Whenever any of these men speak it is likely to be must-see TV for all AEW fans.

Here is the updated card for the April 26 episode of AEW Dynamite:
