Exclusive: Braxton Sutter Speaks on Impact Wrestling Morale
Before Impact Wrestling was purchased by Anthem Sports in January 2017, there were always rumors that the company was dying and that there was "bad morale" within the locker room.
For the better part of the last 18-24 months, there was speculation that Impact Wrestling was close to shutting its doors for good. However, all of those rumors turned out to be just that. Rumors.
Braxton Sutter has been with the company on a full-time basis since March 2016, but had done work for then TNA Wrestling for nearly a year prior to signing a contract. The idea that the company was in bad shape or that there was poor morale among the talent was something that he never noticed.
"When I first got signed there that's when 'things were really bad,' which I didn't see," he told Fightful.com. "The big joke was “bad morale”. You always read about it on the internet. I never experienced bad morale here.
"I remember one time we were doing one of those 'One Night Only' pay-per-views where a couple of the girls did a spot with Earl Hebner, and Earl dipped them, kissed them, and started doing a Ric Flair strut. The crowd was going crazy, everyone was popping in the back, and Shane Helms grabbed me from beyond laughing and went 'Bad morale, huh?' It was just like, 'Yea, what are they talking about?'"
Sutter added that the atmosphere backstage at Impact is the best he's ever been a part of in his near 17-year career as a professional wrestler.
