Monteasy Talks Working With Swerve Strickland, Top Dolla, & B-Fab On Recent Song ‘Price Went Up’
Monteasy discusses his recent song that featured Swerve Strickland, Top Dolla, and B-Fab.
On March 5, rapper Monteasy dropped a new song titled ‘Price Went Up’. The song has features from Swerve Strickland (Sw3rve The Realest), B-Fab (Brianna Brandy), & Top Dolla (FRAN¢), who were all members of the original version of the Hit Row faction.
In a new interview with Tru Heel Heat Wrestling, Monteasy discussed his upcoming project and how he got the three wrestlers on the song.
“Yes so first of all thank you man, thank you for all the love and the shoutout man. I truly appreciate that. You know this song man is just another part of my catalog for my Erica Sun 2 project dropping this summer. I’ve been working on this album for about two years and normally I don’t hold onto content like that I can put out, but you know this time I had to take my time. I really wanted it to speak on the biography of my life, but this record came about. I originally had the record and I had myself on it and I was like ‘you know what, you know all those old hip-hop songs like back in the day where it was a bunch of people on the record.’ It was like a posse record, a lot of people were on it. I said you know let me get an all-star lineup, so first I was with Swerve, I’m like ‘hey man I’m gonna send this to you’ and he wrote his part. My man John Connor, one of the greatest rappers to do it from Detroit, obviously if you guys haven’t check out me and John’s wrestling album called ‘War’ on all distributing platforms right now. So he’s like ‘yeah man’, we’re already in creative mode, so he’s already on it. And then my man obviously Rich Latta, you know one of the dopest rappers, producers and wrestling fans as well, make sure you check out his podcast as well that he does. That’s the brother, producer of the team who’s been with me and Swerve for three years, three, four years now. And then I already knew B and Top Dolla and B-Fab were already cool, so I was like ‘hey you guys want to get on this’ and they’re like ‘yeah send it to us’. So they sent me their parts and the official music video and single will be out March 6th, so I’m so excited about this man to be able to form Voltron with my friends and all of us came you know, all of us killed the record man. I am so excited for you guys to hear it and a lot of people are excited. I’ve gotten a lot of DMs and people are ready for it, so I was gonna drop it the 4th before Revolution, but I said you know let me do it the day after so it has that direct impact the day after the show.”
Strickland (Isiah Scott) and Top Dolla/B-Fab last appeared together in a wrestling capacity in late 2021 on the SmackDown brand. Weeks later, all three members of the group, as well as Ashante “Thee” Adonis, were released from WWE. Strickland would go on to join All Elite Wrestling in March 2022, while Dolla, Fab, and Adonis would go on to return to WWE in August 2022.
