Trish Stratus On Her WWE Return: It’s Amazing, Being Part Of WrestleMania 39 Is An Honor

Trish Stratus says she’s honored to be a part of WrestleMania 39.

Stratus had a legendary WWE career, as she blazed new trails and fought for change for women’s wrestling. The seven-time WWE Women’s Champion was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, and she has made sporadic appearances over the years. On the February 27 episode of WWE Raw, Stratus returned to the company and helped Lita and Becky Lynch win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship by defeating IYO SKY and Dakota Kai. The following week, Stratus challenged Damage CTRL (Bayley, Kai & SKY) to a six-woman tag team match at WWE WrestleMania 39, and Bayley accepted the challenge.

Speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Stratus was asked to describe what being part of WrestleMania more than 20 years after her WWE debut meant to her. She noted that it was shocking, and she recalled meeting a fan who watched her when he was younger and now has a kid of his own. Stratus emphasized that everything her generation did was to make a difference, and it’s amazing to see today’s WWE stars shining. She also stated that being involved on the road to WrestleMania, and having a match at the show, is an honor.

“First of all, it’s shocking. I did an autograph signing the other week, and the dad was telling me how I had these moments, and then the son… so I said, ‘Wow, so you’ve grown up watching me. Now you’re growing up watching me.’ That’s crazy, that we’re still doing our thing all these years later. We went out there, the things we did, the work we did, it was all for what the girls are doing now, it was for a change, it was for us to have representation to have a voice out there and really, seeing what the girls are doing now and to be able to dabble in and be among the girls and get a little taste of it as well, it’s amazing. To watch it up close and live and see how professional and these amazing athletes these women are, having these moments, making history, and honestly to be alongside of it, it’s an honor, and it’s everything we could ask for when we were coming up,” Stratus said.

When asked about Bayley’s 2016 tweet in which she stated that she wanted to face Stratus and Lita, Trish noted that dreams come true, but The Bump should have Bayley on the show and ask her how she feels after her team loses at WrestleMania 39.

“Well, dreams do come true. Maybe you should have her on The Bump afterwards and say, ‘How do you feel?’ after we whoop her ass at WrestleMania. See how she feels about putting that out there,” Stratus said.
