Hero has not wrestled since his WWE release in April 2020, though he has remained involved in the wrestling world by doing seminars, and he has also conducted interviews for Highspots. Hero also worked backstage at ROH events before Tony Khan bought the company in March 2022. At West Coast Pro Wrestling’s West Coast Pro West Coast Best Coast pn March 4, Hero announced that he was the promotion’s new matchmaker.

In a tweet on March 7, Hero shared his statement about the news. His message is below.

As you may have heard or seen, I made an appearance Saturday night at “West Coast Best Coast”. I am, as of right now, the official Matchmaker for West Coast Pro. Based in South San Francisco, West Coast Pro has been bringing their particular flavor of professional wrestling to Northern California since 2018. The quality of these shows paired with the energy of the audience makes for an undeniably electric atmosphere. They’ve brought the Motor City Machine Guns, Yuji Nagata, Chigusa Nagayo, Katsuhiko Nakajima, Naomichi Marufiji, Debbie Malenko, and many, many more to the Bay Area to mix it up with their homegrown stars.

I can’t wait for you all to see just how special this place really is. It’s an honor and a privilege for me to become part of the West Coast team and get to work with the immensely gifted talented that permeates that locker room. I’m ecstatic to add my personal touch to this living, breathing pro wrestling entity. My journey with West Coast starts now. See you all next month at the State Room at “Home of the Killers”!

Hero wrestled all over the world throughout his career; he is a two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion, a former PWG World Champion, and a former EVOLVE Champion, among other accolades.
