Mark Henry Says CM Punk Is Not A Cancer In The Locker Room, Believes Punk Still Loves Wrestling

Mark Henry comments on CM Punk’s status in AEW.

CM Punk hasn’t been part of AEW since AEW All Out when he was suspended by the company for his role in an altercation with The Elite (The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega). The altercation occurred after Punk made disparaging remarks towards The Elite, Hangman Page, and Colt Cabana during his post-show press conference.

During his time away from the company, FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) have supported Punk and Punk has been active in social media comments regarding wrestling and comments made about him and his status.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry commented on Punk’s status.

“Punk has posted things. If you didn’t love it and you didn’t really want to do it, you woudn’t post. You wouldn’t have any interactions on social media at all. You’d just let it go. He has not been released from his contract. That being said, one of the things that I’ve seen is FTR has supported Punk the whole time, which I find to be refreshing in pro wrestling. We need to support each other, even if there is a problem. How cool would it be to see FTR go to Punk and say, ‘we’ll stand beside you against The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. Win, lose, or draw, we support you. The loser has to be the one to apologize.’ Somebody is going to have to apologize, even if they don’t want to. It also brings a little bit of togetherness. You have to use it now. You can’t have Punk come back and not address the issue, not say anything, ‘we’re just going to move on and put Punk with Powerhouse Hobbs.’ You can’t do that. You have to bring him back and make it mean something,” said Henry.

Co-host Dave LeGreca noted that Punk also attended NJPW Battle in the Valley, and Henry used that as further proof that Punk still loves wrestling.

When LeGreca mentioned that Punk has been called a “cancer” in the locker room by people not in the locker room, Henry fired back and said, “He’s not! He’s not! I’m gonna say it.”

Seth Rollins previously called Punk a cancer.

Punk was active on social media on Monday, commenting that he would wrestle again just to upset a fan who said he should stay retired.
