Report: WWE Running Two Premium Live Events In May 2023, Including ‘WWE King And Queen Of The Ring’

WWE is reportedly slated to run two Premium Live Events in May 2023.

WWE has consistently run at least one pay-per-view monthly since 1995, with few exceptions. Occasionally, WWE will run two Premium Live Events in one month, depending on their schedule. According to a new report, May 2023 may be a month with two Premium Live Events.

According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics in a Patreon-exclusive video, WWE is poised to run two events in May 2023. On Saturday, May 6, WWE will reportedly present WWE Backlash. The Backlash name dates back to 1999. However, in recent years the event has been renamed to WWE WrestleMania Backlash. According to this report, the WrestleMania branding is being dropped from ‘Mania’s follow-up event.

On May 27, WWE will reportedly present WWE King and Queen of the Ring. WWE King of the Ring has not been a pay-per-view since 2002. However, the WWE King of the Ring tournament has been sporadically used since 2002 as part of special events.

May 27 also happens to be Memorial Day weekend. In recent years, AEW has largely dominated Memorial Day weekend and the wrestling space with its annual AEW Double Or Nothing event. Tony Khan recently stated that fans should expect Double or Nothing to once again be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, during Memorial Day weekend.

In 2021, WWE held its first “Queen’s Crown” tournament, which Zelina Vega won.

Fightful will continue to monitor this story and report all event details as they are made official.

A recent Spectrum cable lineup revealed the date of several upcoming events, but neither of these events was listed. Fans can see the breakdown here.
