***UPDATE*** — During the UFC Vegas 70 broadcast, it was announced that Nikita Krylov has came down with an illness. Krylov’s scheduled bout against Ryan Spann was canceled. Andre Muniz vs. Brendan Allen was elevated to the main event.

Play-by-Play
(#11) Andre Muniz vs. Brendan Allen
Round One – Allen opens the action with a low kick. Allen lands a right hook and Muniz comes back with a side kick to the body that lands. A calf kick finds it’s home for Muniz, who then ducks under a head kick attempt from Allen. Muniz lands a 1-2 then cracks Allen with a big right hook. Allen has a body kick caught by Muniz, who pops the straight right that lands flush. Muniz throws a flurry to get inside and clinches Allen but Allen spins away from danger and circles back to the center of the octagon. Allen lands a kick to the body but accidentally pokes Allen in the left eye. Referee Jason Herzog halts the action to allow Allen to recover and after a few brief moments, Allen gives the OK and this one is back underway after a touch of the gloves. Muniz lands a 1-2, Allen just misses a spinning back kick to the body, Muniz can’t find the range on a head kick and the horn sounds to end an entertaining opening frame.

Round Two – Muniz lands a low kick to start the action. Muniz just misses a high kick and eats a 1-2 from Allen for his troubles. Muniz lands a right hook, then a 1-2, but misses a flying knee to the body. Allen lands a right hook, Muniz is throwing heat back at him but misses a 1-2, and Allen whiffs on a wild overhand left. Muniz lands a right hook followed by a 1-2 and dives in for the takedown and gets it but Allen spins and somehow ends up with top control. Allen starts unloading some ground and pound and a cut opens up under Muniz’s right eye. Allen transitions to side control and lands a heavy elbow and rips some right hands to the body. Muniz scrambles but Allen holds firm until the buzzer and this one is headed to the third and final round.
Fightful scores this round 10-9 to Allen. 19-19 after two rounds.
Round Three – A nice show of respect between both competitors starts off the third and final round of this late, make-shift main event. Muniz pops the jab and follows it up with a heavy 1-2 that both land. Allen lands a low kick and a follow-up left hook. Muniz whiffs on a front kick but lands a left hook in behind. A welt has opened up on Allen’s right cheek and Muniz lands another 1-2. Muniz lands a left hook, then a kick to the body but Allen catches the kick and trips Muniz to the mat. Allen immediately gets side control, Muniz rolls to his stomach, Allen looks for and gets back control. Allen looks for the choke, Muniz defends well for the moment and clock ticks under one minute to go in this main event of the evening. Allen gets the choke under the chin this time and Muniz has no choice but to tap out! Statement win for Brendan Allen!

Augusto Sakai vs. Don’Tale Mayes
Round One – Sakai opens with a low kick and clinches Mayes against the fence. Mayes reverses the position and forces the break. Mayes dives in for a takedown but Sakai sprawls and pops back to his feet to avoid the takedown. Mayes clinches, Sakai grabs the neck and looks for a choke but starts unloading knees to the mid-section of Mayes. Sakai continues to land knees and drags Mayes to the mat. Sakai looks for the back but Mayes is able to power back to his feet. Sakai drills Mayes with an elbow, then another knee to the body and the horn sounds to end the opening frame.

Round Two – Sakai lands a 1-2 to open the action. Sakai clinches, Mayes lands a knee to the body and forces the break. Sakai lands a left hook, then a 1-2, and clinches again. Mayes reverses momentum and now has Sakai pressed against the fence. Sakai goes back to the well and lands some knees to Mayes’ mid-section and forces the break. Sakai lands a 1-2 then clinches once more. Sakai rides out the final few seconds with control of the clinch until the buzzer sounds to send this one to the third and final round.
Fightful scores this round 10-9 to Sakai. 20-18 to Sakai after two rounds.
Round Three – Sakai initiates the clinch to begin round number three. Mayes forces the break and Sakai lands a low kick for his troubles. Mayes lands a 1-2, Sakai clinches and has Mayes pressed against the cage wall. Sakai looks for a standing choke, Mayes defends well and unlocks Sakai’s grasp around his neck. Sakai trips Mayes to the mat and starts unloading some heavy ground and pound as the clock ticks under 90 seconds remaining in this one. Mayes scrambles back to his feet but Sakai clinches and continues to land knees to the body as he’s done in the previous two rounds. Sakai looks for another choke and uses it to drag Mayes back down to the mat. Sakai lands some shots from the top but the buzzer sounds and this one is headed to the judge’s scorecards.

Tatiana Suarez vs. Montana de La Rosa
Round One – Suarez clinches right away and trips de La Rosa right down to the mat. Suarez gets the back, de La Rosa stands and tries to shimmy Suarez off but can’t quite seem to do so. de La Rosa remains on her feet but Suarez is still latching onto her against the fence. Not much goes down in this grappling exchange but Suarez remains in control of the clinch for the balance of the round until the horn sounds to end the opening frame.
Fightful scores this round 10-9 to Suarez.
Round Two – Suarez lands a side kick to the body then clinches. de La Rosa defends nicely and rips a couple right hooks to the body but Suarez lands a beautiful throw and gets this one back down to the mat. Suarez immediately has side control and starts going to work with some ground and pound. de La Rosa rolls to her stomach, Suarez looks for a triangle, de La Rosa continues to roll and gets back to her feet. Suarez keeps the clinch intact and looks for a flying guillotine choke and tightens the hold as she goes crashing down to the mat. de La Rosa looks for some hail mary punches be she’s forced to tap out! What a comeback performance for Tatiana Suarez!

Mike Malott vs. Yohan Lainesse
Round One – Malott opens the action with a low kick. Lainesse whiffs on a massive left hook and Malott ducks under the attempt and drags Lainesse to the mat. Malott gets right to half guard and sitches in an arm-triangle and Lainesse has no choice but to tap out! What a performance by Mike Malott!
