Kenny Omega To Mercedes Mone: Our Paths Will Cross Again; I Hear NJPW Does Mixed Matches Now
Kenny Omega is hoping to cross paths with Mercedes Mone in the future.
At Wrestle Kingdom 17, Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, made her debut in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Mone made a statement in her debut, as she attacked then IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI.
Mone would go on to defeat KAIRI in a IWGP Women’s Championship match at NJPW Battle In The Valley on February 18. In a documentary that was released prior to her championship win, it was revealed that Mone and Kenny Omega met backstage before Mone’s debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17.
While promoting the documentary on Twitter, Mone said it was nice to meet Omega for the first time and noted that she’s excited for their paths to cross again.

Omega would quickly respond and ensure ‘The CEO’ that their paths would cross again, while also potentially teasing a mixed tag team match with the IWGP Women’s Champion.
Our work with NJPW isn’t quite done yet, so I’m sure they will! I hear they sometimes do mix matches now too… —- https://t.co/h4JOIwarX3

Previously, New Japan Pro Wrestling hosted three mixed tag team matches at their crossover event with STARDOM back on November 22, 2022. Giulia & Zack Sabre Jr., Syuri & Tom Lawlor, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Utami Hayashishita, and Hirooki Goto & Maika were among the teams that competed at that event.
