Pete Dunne Wants To Wrestle Brock Lesnar
Now that Pete Dunne has conquered the WWE UK Division, he's set his sights a bit higher. He wants a shot at Brock Lesnar.
Pete Dunne became WWE United Kingdom Champion at NXT Takeover: Chicago. He and other talent from the United Kingdom have been a part of WWE's programming since WWE held a tournament to crown the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion. In an interview with ESPN, Dunne explained the honor he feels taking part in WWE's exploration of the United Kingdom's talent.
"I'm really honored to be pushing this U.K. brand. And now arguably being the face of it, it's a massive honor to me, because I saw British wrestling in the absolute pits at one point. Thirty or 40 people was a great draw. And now thanks to the exposure that the WWE has given us, and now in every house in the U.K., all the talents that come through, they all finally have something to work towards. And if I could be that benchmark for the talents to work towards, that's incredibly exciting to me, and it feels like a massive goal finally reached," said Dunne.
In WWE, Dunne has only wrestled other wrestlers from The United Kingdom but he has his sights on the WWE Universal Champion. He also has a couple other goals to reach while competing at WWE.
"I'd love to wrestle Brock Lesnar. It's the realism, the way he carries himself. It's 100 percent believable because he's real. That's someone who I'd love to get in the ring with someday. I don't think there's a possibility of it ever happening, but I'd also love to wrestle William Regal one day. One of (the other goals) is WrestleMania. That was a goal that I never really thought was doable, whereas now, it feels like it's on the horizon. It feels like it's something I could do in the next few years, for sure," said Dunne.
WWE has begun airing United Kingdom specials on the WWE Network with the roster from the tournament. Triple H has said he is looking forward to the United Kingdom brand growing. Dunne also talked about his match with Tyler Bate at NXT Takeover: Chicago which was highly acclaimed by Triple H and other wrestling personalities.
