Mercedes Mone: I Have The Greatest Fans In The World, NJPW’s Viewership Bump Is Because Of My Crew

Mercedes Mone comments on her fanbase.

The conversation of whether a wrestler is a draw or not is often a topic in today’s wrestling world. Although those conversations are often driven by a narrative, there are certain times that fans will bring up facts to back up their arguments.

It is nearly universally agreed upon that Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, is a very popular figure in the pro wrestling landscape. Mone has a large fanbase that has seemingly followed her on her new wrestling venture that has taken her to New Japan Pro Wrestling/STARDOM.

While speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated for a recent interview, Mone said that she has the best fanbase in the world and gave them credit for a viewership bump that occurred for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 17.

“I have the greatest fans in the entire world,” Mone said. “They followed me to Wrestle Kingdom. There was 30% new viewership from the United States, and that’s because of my crew. To be away from them for nine months has been incredibly hard. Now we get to start a whole new chapter and go on a whole new ride.”

Mone is set to face off against KAIRI in a IWGP Women’s Championship match at NJPW Battle In The Valley on Saturday, February 18. This will be Mone’s first match in nine months, as she noted in the interview.

In a separate recent interview, Mone said that she will be wrestling in Tokyo, Japan in April. Click here to learn more.
