Tom Hannifan Praises Michael Cole’s Consistency, Says He Never Misses When It Comes To Emotion
Tom Hannifan has high praise for Michael Cole.
Michael Cole is easily the most well known commentator within the current wrestling world. Cole, who’s been in the booth for over 20 years, is currently seeing a bit of a career resurgence, as fans are seemingly appreciating the lead commentator of SmackDown more than ever before.
In a recent interview with WrestleZone, Tom Hannifan noted that Cole has been appreciated internally for years now for his consistency.
“Yeah. It’s like any job. Your boss asks you to do something, you do it to the best of your ability. If you get a chance to adlib and do something a little different, they’re like ‘Hey, I don’t know what this looks like, but you do your best and be creative with it.’ I think there are just some different circumstances that have popped up and [Micheal] Cole has finally been appreciated. I think we, all of us that were working at WWE, saw it up close and personal so we’ve appreciated it for years internally. But externally, it was something that I was trying to model myself after. It might take me ten, twenty, twenty five years, for instance, to get the appreciation of fans for just being consistent. I’d rather be consistent than to have crazy peaks and valleys. I think that’s the thing about Cole, he never misses when it comes to emotion. The thing that I think fans forget about is that he freaking loves wrestling. So to get to call those [shows] week in and week out, he’s ecstatic.”
In a interview back in 2022, Hannifan credited Cole for teaching him patience. To learn more, click here.
