Angelo Dawkins Insists He’s A Ground-Based Wrestler, Montez Ford Wants To See More Of ‘Lucha-Dawks’

Montez Ford praises Angelo Dawkins’ abilities as he introduces the world to Lucha-Dawks whether Angelo wants him to or not.

The Street Profits’ Montez Ford regularly receives praise for his abilities as a singles performer. Still, his tag team partner, Angelo Dawkins is also putting in the work to improve his game. Dawkins has been working with Natalya at The Dungeon 2.0 and has recently been more open to showcasing his high-flying abilities in recent weeks.

Speaking to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp ahead of the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble event, Ford and Dawkins explained their plan to try and make sure they both win the Battle Royal by eliminating everybody else and jumping out of the ring simultaneously to punch their ticket to WrestleMania.

This led to a conversation about how Angelo is improving in the ring, and Montez was quick to sing the praises of his partner even if Angelo Dawkins isn’t exactly ready to embrace the life of a Luchador that Montez appears to be manifesting for him.

Fightful: “We’re here at the Royal Rumble. That’s always a blast, f you two get in the Royal Rumble match, you’re facing off with each other, how’s that go down? How’s that gonna work, Angelo?”

Angelo Dawkins: “I’m gonna guess we both jump out at the same time and land on our feet at the same time and be like, ‘Welp. We’re going to Mania.’”

Montez Ford: “Exactly.”

Fightful: “That seemed a little easier for him of late. He’s been diving over the rope, flying into people.”

Montez Ford: “Dawks! .I told you, they knew.”

Fightful: “When he does that, do you feel like you have to one-up him or vice versa?”

Montez Ford: “Absolutely not, man. He is Lucha-Dawks for a reason, okay? We are the yin and yang in this whole damn thang. We are the Street Profits, not the Street Deficits. That means we are not at a deficit in our abilities to perform in the ring, okay? A lot of people walk around and say, ‘We’re the best tag team, we should be number one.’ We don’t worry about that. You know why? ‘Cause we yin and yang in this thang and at the words that I speak, Spock, you’re now looking at Lucha-Dawks. Amen.”

Fightful: “Are you gonna start wearing a mask?”

Montez Ford: “He been in the dungeon. He been in there working, putting in work. When people want to go home and just look at sports. But you look at sports, you put in work and then you go to the dungeon and you grind and you grind all the time. You show the world your abilities, my brother. Amen?”

Angelo Dawkins: “Let’s just put it like this, alright? The person that you see on Monday Night RAW and the person that is right here right now that is me? Two completely different people, you know what I’m saying? Two completely different people.”

Fightful: “Are you gonna get him a lucha mask?

Montez Ford: “Don’t you report this, okay? This is not facts right here.”

Angelo Dawkins: “There is no lucha mask. There is no Lucha-Dawks.”

Montez Ford: “I want you to say this. This is the report now. 100% exclusive, live. S. Ross, this is Lucha-Dawks.”

Fightful: “Like, you can get a mask that looks like the solo cup with ridges and stuff on it.”

Montez Ford: “Then have people pour their drink in there as we go through the crowd!”

Angelo Dawkins: “Time out. There is no Lucha-Dawks. It’s just ground-based entertainment, dog.”

Fightful: “What are we seeing every Monday when I see you fly over the top rope at 120 miles per hour, then next week at 130 miles per hour?”

Angelo Dawkins: “I mean… See, like, y’all think it’s me, but really if you blink really fast, and you see, that ain’t me jumping. Now me on the ground, yeah, that’s me doing the pose. But there’s a different dude…”

Montez Ford: “This early in the morning? You gonna lie this early in the morning?”

Angelo Dawkins: “I’m ground-based, bruh.”

Fightful: “If he had a mask, he’d have some plausible deniability.”

Montez Ford: “On Rumble morning, you gonna lie. You are Lucha-Dawks. ‘Lucha-Dawks! Lucha-Dawks! Lucha-Dawks!’ Don’t it sound amazing?”

Fightful: “It does sound great. People are gonna call you that now.”

Angelo Dawkins: “No. I’m not Lucha-Dawks. I’m Angelo Dawkins. I’m ground-based entertainment, bro. Look, you see these right here? My feet are planted on the ground. I don’t leave the ground. I stay grounded. I’ve been grounded so long that I don’t leave the ground. Y’all think I jump, but not really, you know what I’m saying? I’m definitely saying that.”

Montez Ford: “Should we do it?”

Fightful: “Yeah. Yeah.”

Montez Ford: “They always say, ‘If it’s not on social media, it’s not happening.’ Let’s do this.”

Fightful: “So as we wrap up, we’ll do this. We got Montez Ford and Lucha-Dawks here.”

Montez Ford: “You don’t leave?”

Angelo Dawkins: “No.”

Fightful: “The Street Luchas are here.

Montez Ford: “You lucky I don’t got no signal here.”

Angelo Dawkins: “Yeah, yeah, look at you. Hey, his phone really dead. Don’t let him fool you. It ain’t even that. His phone’s at three percent.”

Montez Ford: “Alive and well.”

Fightful: “I want to thank the Street Profits. Until next time, guys, we’re out.”
