Lio Rush will return to the ring at PROGRESS Wrestling Start Spreading The News.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reports that Rush will make his PROGRESS debut at PROGRESS 148: Start Spreading The News, where he will face Danny Black. The show will be held from The Electric Ballroom in Camden, England, on January 22. The match will mark Rush’s return to the ring after he suffered a nasty facial injury during his match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4. There, he and YOH unsuccessfully challenged TJP and Francesco Akira for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. The injury forced Rush to miss the PWG Battle of Los Angeles tournament.
Black recently stated that he wanted to remind everyone, including himself, of the kind of singles matches he can put on, and he asked PROGRESS for the chance to prove himself.
I think Danny’s going to have the chance. We’ve learned that @DannyBlack_99 will take on @IamLioRush making his PROGRESS debut on January 22 at @ThisIs_Progress

During NJPW New Year Dash!!, the company announced that Rush has suffered a broken nose at Wrestle Kingdom 17. Rush subsequently stated that he did not have any broken facial bones, but he would be sidelined for a few weeks.
In recent months, Rush has competed for MLW, GCW, RevPro, and NJPW, among other promotions.
Rush recently described how wrestling for NJPW has “awakened something” within him. Check out his comments here.
