Jason Braiser, the director of “The Flying Greek”, a documentary about Pappas, shared the news in a tweet on January 1 and noted that Pappas lost his battle with colorectal cancer. Brasier expressed his gratitude for knowing Pappas and getting to know his family and fans.

Slam Wrestling highlighted Pappas’ career; he honed his craft in Greece before he came to America. He worked for the WWWF and was active on the independent scene. Following his retirement in 1978, he opened a jewelry store, and he was also renowned for his skills in that field. In February 2022, Pappas was honored by the Independent Circuit Wrestling Federation (ICWF), who gave him a Lifetime Achievement Award for his wrestling career.
