Report: WWE Postpones January 2023 Event In India
WWE is reportedly postponing its upcoming show in India.
On December 22, WrestleVotes reported WWE was going to postpone its schedule January 18, 2023 event in India for “unspecified reasons.” The event was scheduled to be held at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that the decision to postpone the event was due to Sony Six, WWE’s television partner in India, wanting to hold off the show until they finalized a merger with Zee in India. The merger is reportedly expected to go through in April.
WWE never formally announced the event India. WWE and Sony had launched a new campaign titled ‘WWE, 100% Shudh Sports Entertainment.’ Drew McIntyre and actors Karthi and John Abraham are part of the campaign.
WWE previously held WWE Superstar Spectacle, an event for the Indian audience within the WWE Thunderdome on January 22, 2021 and aired on January 26 for India’s Republic Day.
Fightful will keep fans updated on WWE’s even in India when more is known.
