Charles Wright (The Godfather) Undergoes Successful Hip Surgery

Good news for The Godfather.

Whether as Papa Shango, Kama Mustafa, The Godfather, or The Goodfather, Charles Wright entertained millions of wrestling fans throughout his Hall of Fame career. However, like most wrestlers from his generation, the bumps he took throughout his career have taken their toll on Wright’s body.

Now, Wright announced on social media that he underwent successful surgery on Monday, December 19. While not much of a timetable for his recovery was given, the man who used to proudly tell audiences to “light a fatty for this Pimp Daddy” did declare that morphine was a hell of a drug. 

Godfather was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.

Outside of the ring, Wright is probably a member of BSK, the behind-the-scenes clique that most consider being “led” by The Undertaker. During an appearance on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions, Godfather explained how he got The Undertaker to start riding Harley Davidsons, something that would become a staple of his character in The Attitude Era.
