Grayson Waller aimed to follow in Roxanne Perez’s footsteps by cashing in his title shot, but he was informed that NXT Champion Bron Breakker wasn’t present due to a media. Still, he called Breakker a gutless champion and dared Breakker to meet him in the middle of the ring. Later in the show, Waller called Breakker out again and called him a coward. Waller called himself NXT’s biggest star, and Breakker charged to the ring. He dropped Waller with a Spear but wound up knocking himself out. Waller opened his jacket to reveal he was wearing a metal plate. He vowed to outsmart Breakker again at NXT New Year’s Evil. With the metal plate, Waller borrowed from the classic WCW spot with Bret Hart and Goldberg.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) defended the NXT Tag Team Championship against Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen. Kiana James sat in the crowd and cheered Jensen on. Despite a valiant effort from the challengers, Briggs and Jensen still won the match to retain the gold.

Former tag team partners clashed as Nikkita Lyons took on Zoey Stark. The two stars started brawling before the match even started. In the end, Stark stole the win by stacking  Lyons up and holding onto the ropes to secure the three count.

Tony D’Angelo shared the news that he has a shot at Wes Lee’s NXT North American Championship next week. He told Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo to go tell Dijak to stay out of his way, though he promised to give the powerhouse the first shot at the gold once he won. Later in the show,  “Stacks” entered Dijak’s locker room, determined to send him a message on D’Angelo’s behalf.

Wendy Choo took the fight to Cora Jade backstage.

– Fallon Henley was disheartened about her family’s financial issues at their bar. Kiana James showed up, and she said she took care of the financial woes in order to buy the bar. Henley fired back and challenged her to a match on next week’s show; if Henley wills, her family will be freed of their financial obligations to James. If James wins, she’ll get the bar at a discounted rate.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez discussed her title win in an interview with Booker T. She recalled her journey to this point and looked back on training with Booker T. She also asked Booker for advice, and he told her to make history.

Apollo Crews returned to NXT and commented on his loss at NXT Deadline. He said he had the vision, and he could see it clearly, but he lost. Crews stated that he’s not out of championship contention, but Carmelo Hayes interrupted and asked Crews how he could have a vision of winning the gold when he’s at the back of the line. Hayes said he’d have no problem taking out a future Hall of Famer to get to the title. Crews implied that he was better than Hayes. He told Hayes he’d prove it, and they stared each other down.

Chase U held a holiday party. Duke Hudson gave Andre Chase a plaque that had “#1 Professor” written on it, and he hugged the teacher. But Hudson smirked, as his intentions were seemingly suspicious.

– In the spirit of Christmas, and hoping to get a shot at the tag titles, Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) got several gifts for the New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods), but they didn’t check the list twice, as Kingston and Woods weren’t satisfied.

Edris Enofe, Malik Blade, and Odyssey Jones invited Ava Raine to go partying. She fired back by asking them when they would stop trying to fill the voids in their lives. The rest of Schism (Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid, and Joe Gacy) showed up and stood alongside Raine.
