Wilson Reis Wants To Fight Ray Borg At UFC 214
It has been a few weeks since Wilson Reis lost his shot at the UFC Flyweight Title, as he was submitted by Demetrious Johnson at UFC On Fox 24.
Reis is planning his road back to a title shot and that road begins with fighting Ray Borg at UFC 214.
"I’m already training twice a day to stay in shape and stay active,” Reis told MMA Fighting. "I’ll go back to the United States later this month, so I’d have enough time for a full camp there. I’d really love to fight close to home on July 29. I’d like to fight him (Borg) because of his position in the rankings. He's coming off good wins, and a win over him would put me in a good position."
Borg himself hasn’t competed since he defeated Jussier Formiga at UFC Fight Night 106.
While Reis wants another opportunity at the flyweight strap, the focus right now is on his next fight.
"I don’t want to worry about a title shot now,” Reis said. "I wanted it, I got it, but didn’t win the belt. Obviously, winning two or three fights can get me up there again, but I won’t worry about it now. I want to evolve and get good wins."
The Brazilian may not have become the UFC Flyweight Champion, but he was the first and only Elite XC Bantamweight Champion.
