Update On WWE Women’s Tournament: Commentators, Taping Schedule, More
More details are coming out about the upcoming WWE Women's Tournament.
PW Insider is reporting that WWE will tape the tournament July 13 and 14 from Full Sail University, at the same venue used for the bulk of NXT tapings. The finals of the tournament will air as part of a live special on WWE Network, which will be broadcast on August 29.
PW Insider reports that, unlike the Cruiserweight Classic that aired weekly on the WWE Network last year, the women's tournament will be released in sets as video-on-demand programming on the WWE Network, similarly to how other original content such as Holy Foley! was released on the streaming service.
Meanwhile, The Wresting Observer is reporting that Jim Ross is likely to be the lead announcer for the women's tourney. Ross signed a new contract with WWE just before WrestleMania 33, and called the main event between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns. Ross recently announced he was providing commentary for the upcoming WWE UK division show that will air on the WWE Network. That commentary will be done from WWE Studios, as the matches for the first batch of episodes already were taped last week during WWE's European tour.
