Anderson Silva Posts Cryptic Instagram Message, Manager Claims He’s Not Retiring
Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva recently announced that he’s no longer part of the upcoming UFC 212 card.
After some apparent unpleasant back and forth with the UFC, the fighter decided to post a cryptic message on his Instagram.
Following the posting, many people around the sport of MMA started thinking that the fighter may be calling it quits.
However, according to Silva’s manager in Jorge Guimaraes, the fighter has no plans to retire.
“I think he’s far from done, but he doesn’t want to hear about Kelvin Gastelum or anybody else,” Guimaraes told MMA Junkie. “I think he’s far from retired, I watched him training, and it’s pretty impressive. He’s healthier than ever. He’s watching his diet. That’s one thing he didn’t do before. Now, he’s on top of it.”
Silva had pleaded with the UFC to book him in an interim title fight or he would retire, but UFC President Dana White said no to the request and then iterated that the fighter should consider retirement.
