WWE Smackdown! Live Results 5/9 Randy Orton Returns, Shinsuke Nakamura VS Dolph Ziggler & More!
This is the Fightful.com live coverage for tonight's episode of WWE Smackdown Live! Tonight we have a taped show from the UK which will see Randy Orton Returns to action, Shinsuke Nakamura and Dolph Ziggler will look to try and gain an advantage in their heated rivalry and much more so be sure to come back here at 8PM EST for all of the action!
-Randy Orton comes out to the ring to start the show and says he didn't lose for any reason other than Jinder interfering at Payback before Jinder comes out and interrupts him. Jinder says that he took what he's going to win at Backlash and shows pictures of what he looks like with the WWE Championship. Jinder says he'll take the belt back to his people and wear it in the Taj Mahal and India will build a statue of him. Jinder says he will cleanse the ignorance of the WWE Universe and he will become the Maha Raja. Kevin Owens comes out next and interrupts him and says no one cares about India or the House of Horrors match or England, saying that he is all anyone cares about.
Kevin says he ended Chris Jericho's career and says that the list of Jericho is dead because of him. Kevin goes on to say that he'll beat AJ at Backlash and he's coming for the WWE Championship next, saying his ultimate goal is to be the new face of the WWE before repeating it in French. AJ Styles comes out and says that Kevin is delusional and that this isn't Backlash, that this is Smackdown! Live and this is the house he built. AJ goes on to say that Kevin will never be the face of the brand before he's interrupted by Baron Corbin who's attacked from behind by Sami Zayn. They square off as we go to commercial, setting up the six man tag match in our main event tonight.
Becky Lynch vs Natalya
They start odd even until Natalya puts Becky in an octopus stretch, Becky quick to get free and come back with several forearms and clotheslines before dropping her with a running forearm in the corner. Becky hits an exploder suplex, then gets distracted by Naomi fighting Carmella to allow Natalya to roll her up for the pin and the win.
Winner: Natalya via pinfall
-We get another Fashion Police segment with the duo dressed like a constable and Sherlock Holmes before we see The Ascension grunting and growling while holding a chain.
Luke Harper vs Erick Rowan
Luke and Erick brawl as soon as the match starts, then exchange running clotheslines in the corner before Luke ssends Erick out of the ring. Erick attacks Luke from behind when he gets back in, then hits a splash for a quick two count. Luke powers out of a headlock with a backdrop, then drops Erick repeatedly before playing to the crowd and hitting a sling shot senton for a quick two count. Luke hits a deep six for a near fall, then Erick hits a sit-out choke bomb for a near fall of his own. Erick then hits a spinning power slam for the pin and the win after poking Luke in the eye after Erick distracts the referee.
Winner: Erick Rowan via pinfall
-Dolph comes out and talks about his career and hs movie career and says that Shinsuke has never had a match on Smackdown! Live before calling Shinsuke out to the ring. Shinsuke comes out and Dolph says that it is time for him to put up or shut up before Shinsuke tells him to shut up. Shinsuke says to get a referee and he'll show him, but Dolph says he'll wait for Backlash before attacking Shinsuke, but Shinsuke comes back and beats Dolph until he rolls out of the ring and leaves as we go to commercial.
Breezango vs The Ascension
Fandango and Konnor start it off with Fandango showing off his strength before he's double teamed by The Ascension who start tagging in and out and keeping Fandango isolated. Viktor hits a series of knees and a jumping fist drop for a quick two count before Fandango tags Tyler in. Tyler hits Konnor with a Supermodel Kick, then hits a superkick to Viktor before hitting Konnor with a shining wizard. Fandango then hits The Last Dance off of the top rope for the pin and the win.
Winner: Breezango via pinfall
-The Usos come out and tell them that in twelve days they're going to lose after a long diatribe about what they can do to each others backs as we go to commercial.
Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens & Baron Corbin vs Randy Orton, AJ Styles & Sami Zayn
Baron and AJ start it off by exchanging strikes, then AJ dropkicks Corbin before he tags in Jinder and AJ tags in Sami. Jinder backs Sami into a corner before beating on him, then tags in Kevin before Randy gets tagged in and sends Kevin out of the ring as we go to commercial.
Corbin is in control of AJ as we come back from commercial until Corbin tags in Jinder, then AJ tags Sami in. Jinder pushes Sami back into his corner and tags in Kevin before Sami beats on Kevin in the corner with right hands. Kevin hangs Sami in the ropes then stomps on him before Corbin tags himself back in. Corbin sends Sami out of the ring and Jinder and the Singhs beat on him while the referee is distracted. They get back in the ring and Corbin drops Sami with a right hand for a near fall before tagging in Jinder.
Jinder beats on Sami and puts him in a stretching submission before backing Sami into their corner and tagging in Kevin. Kevin kicks in a reverse chin lock before hitting a high angle senton for a near fall as we go to commercial.
AJ goes for a springboard move once we come back from commercial, but Kevin trips him, then he and Corbin exchange strikes before Corbin hits a high back drop for a near fall. Baron tags in Jinder who keeps the high flyer AJ grounded until he tags Kevin back in and Kevin stomps on AJ before putting him in his signature reverse chin lock. AJ gets his knees up when Kevin goes for a senton, then hits a back drop before tagging in Randy. Randy takes out all three members of the other team, then goes to RKO Jinder, but the Singhs distract him, then everyone attacks each other before Jinder hits an arm triangle STO for the pin and the win.
