Ben Henderson Explains Twitter Outburst

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson has been out of action for a few months after getting ACL surgery done.

The fighter plans on returning to action this summer and he posted a warning to the Bellator MMA roster on Twitter.

A short time after the Twitter outburst, the former lightweight champion spoke with MMA Junkie about the reason behind the whole thing.

“It was an outburst,” Henderson said. “I feel I’m too composed for such outbursts. It is what it is. I’m not going to apologize, but I don’t think I’ll have any more outbursts like that. I don’t plan on it anyway.”

Henderson has won just one of three fights under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating Patricio Freire, while suffering defeats to Andrey Koreshkov and Michael Chandler.

There was a point in time when Henderson also took his health for granted, which was another factor for his Twitter explosion.

“What’s the old cliche? You never know what you have until it’s gone? I took so much of it as luxury that I didn’t appreciate, just being able to train,” Henderson said. “Being 100 percent healthy, I took it so much as a luxury. I get fired up sometimes, but I finally had enough. I had surgery (in December). It’s been however long now with me not being able to train and having to go corner guys for this fight or that fight, going to all these UFC and Bellator events. I get frustrated, and you have to vent your frustration somehow. Twitter is a good way for me to vent my frustration.”

Currently, Bellator MMA has announced their events through July with Bellator 181 taking place that month, so it is possible for Henderson to return this August at Bellator 182.
