Carlos Condit Makes Interesting Prediction For UFC 201 Main Event
Carlos Condit has been in Tyron Woodley’s shoes, only to come up a little short. He has an interesting take on if Woodley can get the job done at UFC 201.
Condit contemplated retirement after dropping a close fight to Lawler at the beginning of 2016. While Condit has a fight in less than a month against Demian Maia, it didn’t stop him from breaking down UFC 201 on Brian Stann’s Toe-2-Toe Podcast.
“I think it’s an interesting match up,” Condit said. “Both these guys they surge and they rest. Tyron Woodley tends to go hard and then get tired later on. Lawler recharges his batteries and rests. I think the fight will be won by the guy who can keep up the pressure during those periods of rest.”
As mentioned, Condit dropped a decision to Lawler. He’s also been in the cage with Woodley, and wasn’t performing favorably before tearing his ACL, which stopped the fight. Either way, Condit thinks Woodley can become UFC Welterweight Champion.
“Honestly I’m going to have to go with Woodley, Robbie Lawler is a phenomenal fighter, but he’s been in so many wars now. I’m wondering how much of a toll these have taken on him. Woodley is very new in the sport compared to Lawler, he hasn’t been in these wars, he’s also fast and explosive, so I’m picking Woodley to win,” said Condit.
