Middleweight Clash Added To UFC 213

The middleweight division is going to be featured at UFC 213 when Gerald Meerschaert battles inside the Octagon against Thiago Santos.

Meerschaert (26-8-0) is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over the duo of Joe Gigliotti and Ryan Janes. Meerschaert is going to be entering the fight on the strength of a seven fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in just over three years. Meerschaert also competed in the Resurrection Fighting Alliance, where he defeated Chase Waldon at RFA 45.

Santos (14-5-0) has won just one of his last three in UFC competition, defeating Jack Marshamnn, while suffering defeats to Gegard Mousasi and Eric Spicely. Santos currently holds a losing record on UFC pay-per-view cards, a record that stands at 2-3-0 and he is returning to a pay-per-view card for the first time in a year. Santos has only seen just two of his ten fights in the UFC go the distance, while seven of his fights in the UFC have ended within the opening round.

UFC 213 takes place on Saturday, July 8 from the American Airlines Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
