The title was originally vacated after Solo Sikoa inserted himself into a match that was originally slated for Wes Lee, defeating Carmelo Hayes to capture the title. Shawn Michaels declared that Solo was not fit to be champion because he was not scheduled for the match and the title was since vacated until tonight.
Wes Lee came into the promotion as a member of MSK and was NXT Tag Team Champion earlier this year before his partner, Nash Carter (Zachary Wentz) was released. Wentz reacted to Wes’ win on Twitter.
