Billy Gunn Addresses His Absence From D-Generation X’s Reunion On 10/10 WWE Raw
Of course, Billy Gunn would have liked to be a part of D-Generation X’s reunion to celebrate their 25-year anniversary, but he understands things can be difficult when working for a completely separate company.
The October 10, 2022 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw featured D-Generation X reuniting to celebrate 25 years since the group was created. while the group has had many different members over the years, on that night, they were represented by Triple H, Road Dogg, X-Pac, and Shawn Michaels. Of that group of core members, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg’s regular tag team partner was missing. Billy currently works for AEW and even though it was openly stated by Road Dogg that he would have liked to be there, he was ultimately absent.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated about missing the segment, Billy Gunn says that he would have loved to have been a part of it but he understands that sometimes when working for a completely separate company, these things don’t always work out.
“Of course, I would have liked to have been there, but I understand that I work for another company,” Gunn says. “It was a collective decision. I’m not putting it on anyone. I’m not sour about it. We’re two separate companies, and it just didn’t work out.”
These days, Billy Gunn is happily scissoring The Acclaimed’s Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, and he says his connection with those young superstars is similar to what he felt back in the day with D-Generation X
“We jell so well together,” Gunn says. “We’re not trying to fight each other. DX was so good because everybody knew their spot and none of us were trying to jockey for position. It’s the same here. We fit together in The Acclaimed, and we’re focused on doing the best thing collectively for the group. The goal is to make this the best this can be, and I’m here to help them be the best they can be. I want them to have the same success I had.”
On the next AEW Rampage, The Acclaimed will fight for the right to on the trademark of scissoring and retain their Tag Team Championships. Learn more here.
