Dave Bautista Cast As A South Beach Bouncer In Drew Pearce’s Upcoming Thriller ‘Cooler’
Dave Bautista has landed his next role.
According to Deadline, the former WWE Superstar will star as Ray Sagona, a South Beach bouncer who attempts to begin a path of redemption to get back with his family in Drew Pearce’s upcoming action-thriller, Cooler. Production is expected to begin this summer.
Cooler will be the first film as part of the new deal between Bautista’s Dogbone Entertainment and Infrared, a production label under FilmNation Entertainment. You can learn more about that partnership by clicking here.
Per the report, “The film follows a South Beach bouncer Ray Sagona, played by Bautista, who is on the brink of finding redemption and getting his family back. But when a drug-filled safe is stolen from the club he works at, Ray is blackmailed into finding it before the Miami PD narcotics bureau comes to retrieve it on Sunday night. Now, as his past and present collide in ever-more dangerous ways, Ray must survive an epic 36-hour odyssey across Miami Beach to get that safe back… one final Herculean task on his journey towards absolution.”
Pearce, who also wrote the screenplay for Cooler, worked with Bautista on his directorial debut, Hotel Artemis. His previous writing credits include Iron Man 3, Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation.
Bautista can next be seen in Netflix’s Glass Onion: Knives Out 2. He recently wrapped on M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin which will be released on February 3, 2023. He is currently shooting the Dune sequel with Denis Villeneuve and will also be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 next May.
