Rollins, Moxley (then known as Dean Ambrose) and Roman Reigns arrived together in WWE as The Shield, and they went on to become one of the most impressive stables in recent memory. They all evolved into main-eventers after the group initially split up in 2014. The stablemates reunited here and there over the years before Moxley left WWE in 2019 and signed with AEW. Since then, Reigns has established himself as WWE’s dominant world champion and Rollins remains a top star on Raw. Meanwhile, Ambrose is a three-time AEW World Champion, and he currently holds the gold.
Speaking with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Rollins was asked about his relationship with Moxley. He noted that they don’t talk as much as they used to, but they still keep in touch. Rollins made it clear that there’s no animosity between them.
“I don’t talk to him as much, obviously, opposite schedules and different stuff. Our baby girls are close to the same age. He’s not much of a texter, he’s an in-person cat. So If there’s ever a chance you know, when we’re in Cincinnati — last time I was there, I popped in the house and said hi and all that and checked in on him. I do the same thing periodically just to see how he’s doing and stuff. But I’m close with Renee. So we’re always exchanging baby pictures and what’s new with the kids and all that stuff. But yeah, again, never any animosity. He’s great. Again, at the top of his game, doing his thing over in AEW, so nothing but the best,” Rollins said.
He continued by emphasizing that he has always had a great relationship with Reigns and Moxley.
“I’ve never, between the three of us [members of The Shield], and I can’t speak for the two of them [Jon Moxley and Roman Reigns], but they were closer than I was with either of those guys as friends off-camera. So I assume that they’re still chill. I’ve never heard anything to the to the contrary. But yeah, I’ve always had a great relationship with those guys,” Rollins said.
In the same interview, Rollins stated that he doesn’t know if he can ever be “the guy” during the Roman Reigns era. You can check out his comments here.
