Seth Rollins Recalls Being Ambushed By A Fan During The 11/22/21 Episode Of Monday Night Raw

Seth Rollins recalled being attacked by a fan on the night after Survivor Series 2021 in Brooklyn, New York.

On Monday, November 22, 2022, Seth Rollins was ambushed by a fan following his match against Finn Balor that night. Seth Rollins was able to quickly get a handle on the situation before security apprehended the 24-year-old assailant, whom it was later revealed was catfished by a fake Seth Rollins account online.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani for BT Sport, Seth Rollins recounted the incident, saying everything happened so quickly he didn’t have much time to gather what was actually going on before he was defending himself.

“It was so fast but I didn’t really have any time to process it. I only remember — the only thought I remember having is when he was on top of me and [security guards] were already pulling him away,” Seth said. “He had a handful of my hair and I was just trying to punt him off of me with whatever foot I had underneath to get to.

“Immediately, my instinct was to grab his head and just control his head. I have no Jiu-Jitsu training at all so whether I did anything right or wrong, it’s completely instinctive,” he continued. “My instinct was just, as soon as I knew that someone was up on me, just to control his head as best I could. Because if he couldn’t pass drop, then he probably wasn’t going to get anything done and I was just hoping that he didn’t have any weaponry and his hands which thankfully, he didn’t. It happened so fast. He was on me quickly. He’s a little bowling ball of a man. I just remember thinking, ‘What is happening?’, when he was underneath me. Then, ‘Get off of me. Who is this guy?’ I got a look at him and then it was like, ‘Alright, be done with it. They’ve got it under control. So let’s just move along.’”

Seth Rollins further explained that he is grateful that security was there for him and he felt bad for the attacker afterward when he learned of his situation.

“In the aftermath, I just felt bad for him. When I saw online what his situation was and how he had been catfished out of some money and, you know, his mental capacity wasn’t great, I just felt bad. I felt bad that there wasn’t anybody in his life that could help him out. It was an unfortunate situation that I think was handled as best as it could be all the way around and honestly comment coming out later, I didn’t even think twice about it. Yeah [the fear of it happening again] was there but in some ways, it was like ‘No way it’s going to happen again.’ I had the extra safety net there that I was like, ‘If it happens again, somebody’s getting fired. So, I felt pretty confident having to go back out there. We weren’t going to have any repeat offenders, so, yeah. [I was just able to go out there] making light of the situation and the cool thing about this character is he can get away with anything, right? Now he can do anything you want to do and so that’s one of those things where I can poke fun at myself or poke fun at the situation even if it is completely dangerous and scary. It’s just, this [version of his character] can do that.”

Elsewhere in this interview, Seth Rollins speaks about the new version of his character and potentially dropping the ‘Freakin’ part of Seth Freakin Rollins. Learn more here.
