AEW Dynamite (September 28, 2022)

– ROH World Champion Chris Jericho and the Jericho Appreciation Society (Sammy Guevara, Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Daniel Garcia, Tay Melo, Anna Jay AS) are out in all purple for the Jericho Championship Celebration. Luigi Primo is there making pizza as there are pizza boxes on a table in the ring. Parker and Menard take shots at Philadelphia. They get no pizza. Jericho says this is the era of Ring of Jericho and he’s the most important ROH World Champion in history. Jericho puts over his match against Bandido in the main event. Jericho gifts Daniel Garcia with a purple bucket hat. Garcia throws the hat down and hits Luigi. Jericho cuts off Garcia, who is about to make a decision, and asks him if he’s a pro wrestler or sports entertainer.

– Bryan Danielson comes out before Garcia can give an answer. Danielson says Garcia can make his own decision. Jericho says Garcia is with him. Garcia says he doesn’t belong to Jericho. Garcia is ready to entertain and says he would find himself & Danielson against Jericho & Guevara entertaining. Menard wants to punch Danielson, Danielson is ready to fight, and the match is on.

Bryan Danielson vs. Matt Menard

Menard gets the early advantage but Danielson turns things around with his striking. Danielson is shoved off the top and to the outside where Menard uses the guard rail to punish Danielson. Back from commercial break and back in the ring, Menard remains on offense. Danielson reverses the momentum and hits his signature running corner dropkick and kicks. Danielson misses a knee on the outside and Parker gets involved, hitting a DDT on the outside. Claudio Castagnoli comes down and carries Parker away. Back in the ring, Danielson hits the running knee and locks in the LeBell lock for the win.

– Highlights setting up Jon Moxley vs. Juice Robinson.

– Highlights from the MJF and Wheeler Yuta segment at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam.

– Wheeler Yuta comes out and says he has a problem with MJF because he put his hands on Tony Schiavone. Yuta doesn’t expect MJF to fight him in Philly because MJF loves to hide. He calls out MJF, who comes out and makes fun of Schiavone and Philly fans. MJF admits Yuta is one of the best wrestlers in the world, but he made a mistake when he got on the mic with him. MJF brags about being a ratings draw and making a lot of money. “Shit” is blanked out when MJF says it. Yuta still wants to fight and heads up the ramp, but the Gunn Club (Austin & Colten Gunn) come out. MJF says he’ll wrestle Yuta next week.

– Video package for Darby Allin vs. Jay Lethal. The match takes place next week.

AEW World Championship Eliminator – Jon Moxley vs. Juice Robinson

Juice attacks Moxley after he makes his way through the crowd. The bell rings and Moxley finds an opening, going on offense. MJF is in his skybox with the poker chip. They trade strikes in the ring. Moxley goes for Death Rider but Juice pushes things to the outside. Moxley is bleeding as they battle on the outside. Juice misses a cannonball and crashes through a chair. In the ring, Moxley goes on offense but Juice turns things around with an eye rake and gets a couple of close falls including one off Pulp Friction. Moxley escapes and airplane spin, hits the Regal knee, stomps Juice in the head, and locks in cross armbreaker for the submission victory.

Winner – Jon Moxley by submission

– Hangman Page comes out and goes face-to-face with Moxley. It looks like they’re about to fight, but MJF cuts things off and threatens to cash in his chip in Cincinnati. Security has come between Moxley and Hangman. Yuta attacks MJF in the skybox before security pulls him off.

– Video package for Chris Jericho vs. Bandido.

– Saraya says “I’m back.” She says she’s damaged but not broken and she will create change in the women’s division. “I am the revolution.” She says AEW is her house and wants to bring out the women’s division. Toni Storm, Athena, Madison Rayne, Skye Blue, and Willow Nightingale come out. Saraya puts over Toni before Britt Baker interrupts. Jamie Hayter, Rebel, and Penelope Ford are with Britt. Britt takes a shot at Saraya’s neck. “Shit” is once again blanked as Saraya says Britt rhymes with “shit.” Britt puts over Serena Deeb as the crowd chants for Jamie Hayter. Saraya announces the bout between Toni and Serena is a lumberjack match.

AEW Interim Women’s Championship – Lumberjack Match: Toni Storm (c) vs. Serena Deeb

Back and forth match to start. Deeb tosses Storm to the outside and the heels attack before the faces step in. Back in the ring and after the break, Storm is on offense and hits a crossbody off the top. They trade roll ups and Deeb turns things into an arm capture submission with her legs. Hayter trips up Storm leading to Willow running off Hayter. Deeb locks in the Serenity Lock but Storm escapes. Deeb gets a half boston crab but Storm manages to escape as well. Storm hits a hip attack and the Storm Zero, but Deeb kicks out. Storm hits an avalanche piledriver for the win.

Winner – Toni Storm

– Backstage, Billy Gunn says next week’s Dynamite is National Scissoring Day. They will also defend the AEW Tag Team Titles on Rampage. Winner – Ricky Starks

– Video package of Jungle Boy and his rivalry with Luchasaurus and Christian Cage.

ROH World Championship – Chris Jericho (c) vs. Bandido

Bandido gets an early advantage as things go to the outside and to break. Back in the ring, Bandido shows off his strength with a very delayed vertical suplex. Bandido hits a frog splash for a close fall. Jericho gets the advantage and things move to the apron where they trade strikes and Bandido hits a hurricanrana to the outside. Bandido is bleeding from under his mask. They trade near falls with Bandido hitting a sunset flip bomb and Jericho hitting a lionsault. Jericho blocks the x-knee and locks in the Walls of Jericho. Bandido escapes and they fight to the top rope where Bandido hits a top rope flipping powerslam. Bandido follows with the x-knee and 21 plex but Jericho kicks out. Jericho thumbs the eye, pulls at the mask, survives an inside cradle, and locks in the liontammer for the victory.

Winner – Chris Jericho
