Dax Harwood Explains Why He Doesn’t Mind Tapping Out In Matches

Dax Harwood has been heralded for his singles bouts in AEW against the likes to Adam Cole, CM Punk, Claudio Castagnoli, and more.

Harwood hasn’t fared well in those bouts, sporting a 1-8 in his singles matches and tapping out to Cole, Punk, Claudio and Jungle Boy. While some wrestlers may see tapping out as a sign of weakness, Harwood explains how he uses to his advantage.

“I told him [CM Punk], ‘I want to tap out to you.’ And the reason was because I felt the shift of change with the fans and I felt them starting to get sympathy for [FTR] and starting to like us. If I tapped out to him, I knew I could do it in a way that would make the fans feel even more sympathetic to me. [I] tapped out to Claudio. I tapped out to Adam Cole. Jungle Boy. I tapped out to Punk, I tapped out all my singles matches. Some guys are apprehensive about tapping out because they think it makes them look weak, but I know I can build myself around the tapout and make the people feel even more sorry for me and more sympathetic for me,” Harwood told Cam Hawkins of The Ringer

Harwood and Cash Wheeler have become two of the top babyfaces on AEW television, naturally gaining sympathy from the crowd due to their in-ring work.

The duo do not currently have a match booked for AEW Grand Slam. Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
