ECW original/adult film star Jasmin St. Claire discusses her unique journey in wrestling.
While she started out in the adult film industry, she also performed for XPW and ECW. During her time with the latter promotion, she clashed with Francine. Over the years, she also worked for TNA and helped launch Pro-Pain Pro Wrestling (3PW) with the Blue Meanie, among other highlights.
In an interview with Scott Mitchell of PWMania.com, St. Claire reflected on the beginning of her venture into wrestling. She noted that she was performing in the adult film business at the same time that she was getting into the sport.
“It was one of the biggest highlights of my youth and it was a lot of fun. When I got into the adult film business, I was still working for XPW. I didn’t start there though. I started at ECW. I just didn’t know what was going on for me yet,” she said.
Looking back on her days in ECW, St. Claire named Rob Black as her link to the wrestling world, given her brief run in XPW.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was an adrenaline rush and something I enjoyed. I got into it because of ECW wrestling, and Rob Black. He introduced me to them. I had my brief stint with XPW and then I quit and just went there full-time,” St. Claire said.
Making the jump from porn to wrestling was a big move, and in hindsight, St. Claire noted that she was unsure about how it would go, though she was hopeful it would be a positive outcome.
“At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had a lot to prove to myself more than anyone else. I started wrestling with Sue Saxton and Mando Guerrero they taught me how to wrestle and helped me a lot along with the Dudley Boys. I didn’t know where it was going but I knew it would be somewhere positive,” she said.
When discussing her transition from porn to wrestling, St. Claire admitted that it was difficult and recalled how, while people often dismissed her potential abilities, she tried to tune out the negativity.
“People thought I was just some porn girl who can’t wrestle and there is a lot that goes into it. It’s a matter of gaining people’s respect. At the end of the day, I was only there to prove something to myself, nobody else. I just kept going about what I was doing and let everything go in one ear and out the other,” St. Claire said.
Looking back on her wrestling career, St. Claire stated that she had plenty of “wonderful” experiences. She noted that she’s thankful for both the people she met along the way and the fans who have supported her.
“Everywhere was just a different experience with different people but all wonderful. When I worked at Memphis Championship Wrestling, that was very cool as well. It’s been fun and is always an adventure. I’ve met a lot of interesting people throughout this whole journey and I’m fortunate for the fans that I do have,” St. Claire said.
