UFC 212 Gets A Welterweight Addition
A welterweight division affair is the latest addition to this June’s UFC 212 card as Luan Chagas is looking for a win against Jim Wallhead.
Chagas (14-2-1) is currently winless under the UFC banner, dropping a fight to Erick Silva and also fighting Sergio Moraes to a split draw. Chagas will be fighting in Brazil for the third straight time in the UFC, but has also spent the majority of his professional MMA career outside of the UFC competing in Brazil. Chagas hasn’t earned a victory in well over a year, as he last win came at a the Immortal FC 2 event in December of 2015.
Wallhead (29-10-0) is also winless thus far in his UFC journey, dropping a fight to Jessin Ayari via decision at UFC Fight Night 93. Wallhead won just one of three fights during his time in Bellator MMA, with that lone win coming over Ryan Thomas at Bellator 32. Wallhead is also a longtime veteran of the Cage Warriors promotion, where 11 of his 29 professional MMA wins came at.
UFC 212 takes place on Saturday, June 3 from the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with Jose Aldo and Max Holloway headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
