Tony Khan Says AEW Will Gross Over $100 Million In 2022

AEW is doing good business.

Tony Khan has often touted AEW ratings as a sign that the company is in a healthy position with Dynamite being in one of the top two spots every Wednesday on cable for months. Khan has also noted that the last three AEW pay-per-views have surpassed $1 million at the gate.

WWE is financially stronger than ever with record revenue and ratings have gone up in last month with the regime change.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Khan commented on the state of the business when talking with Dave Meltzer, who has been optimistic regarding the industry trends.

“We have a chance to hit these heights at the perfect time,” Khan said while noting that the roster is getting healthy. “I would say, the success we’ve had has been so great. The way the business is going right now, you’re [Meltzer] the most optimistic person I know. 99% of what you say is pointing people in that direction. This is the first time there have been two wrestling companies that have the ability to be the number one show that night on cable and two wrestling companies that are grossing the kind of money…I’m not grossing a billion dollars, but I’m gonna gross over $100 million this year. That’s pretty unprecedented and it’s been over 20 years since anybody is doing that. To me, success is sustaining it.”

Khan said that has respect for Eric Bischoff and the success he had with WCW, leading them to be the top wrestling company over WWE for a period of time in the late 90s.

AEW is set to hold its All Out event on Sunday, September 4. Fans can find the current lineup for the show by clicking here. Fightful will have live coverage of the event beginning at 7 p.m. ET with the pre-show.
