Bayley Hasn’t Thought About Whether Or Not Sasha Banks And Naomi Would Join Her, Supports Them 100%

Bayley discusses Sasha Banks and Naomi’s WWE status.

Sasha Banks and Naomi have been absent from WWE TV since walking out on WWE during the May 16 episode of Monday Night Raw when they vacated the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships ahead of a planned Six-Pack Challenge.

WWE then suspended both women and made public statements on several occasions that Sasha and Naomi had “let down” the audience. In the time since then, the women’s division has moved forward with a major boom being brought to the division when Bayley returned at SummerSlam bringing with her IYO SKY and a returning Dakota Kai.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated about Sasha and Naomi and where they would fit into her current storyline on Monday nights, Bayley said she hasn’t given it much thought and right now, she is most concerned about letting both Sasha and Naomi know that she supports them.

“I haven’t thought about whether they would join or whether we would be against them, but something would arise,” Bayley says. “I just want them to know I support them 100 percent, no matter what.”

Bayley also compared the ability of IYO SKY to that of Sasha Banks, and then took the time to reflect on her program with Sasha which culminated in a Hell in a Cell match in 2020.

“I heard a story recently about Macho Man, how he was always trying to one-up his match from WrestleMania III,” Bayley says. “He always strived for a better match, even though he knew it would be almost impossible. Then I wondered, ‘Are we like that? Do we know that we’re never going to top Brooklyn?’ It wasn’t just the match–it was the feeling around it. It was also the first time NXT had gone outside of Florida for a TakeOver. There was so much to it.

“Hell in a Cell was our trilogy. We had Brooklyn, the Iron Man match, and Hell in a Cell. I’m so bummed it wasn’t around fans. After the match, everyone in the back was like, ‘Man, if there were fans out there, you’d have had a standing ovation.’ That would have been cool, but I still don’t want it to take away from what we were able to do and the story we were able to tell.”

In the time since Sasha Banks and Naomi’s walkout, WWE has come under new leadership and is now creatively controlled by Triple H. Recently, Triple H spoke about the possibility of Sasha Banks returning to WWE, attributing her sudden departure to a breakdown in communication. Read more here.
