Cub Swanson Wants UFC Featherweight Title Shot
Cub Swanson walked away with a unanimous decision victory over Artem Lobov in the main event of UFC Fight Night 108.
With that victory now a distant memory, the featherweight contender wants a shot at the UFC Featherweight Title.
“I’m definitely going to take some time off, but I’m going to be training the whole time,” Swanson told MMA Junkie. “I enjoy training at this point in my career. But realistically, (I won’t return) until late December or early next year.”
Swanson has actually suffered defeats to both UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo and UFC Interim Featherweight Champion Max Holloway, who are fighting this June at UFC 212.
In the end, the featherweight contender prefers to face Aldo again, who defeated him in their WEC days.
“I think it would be a great fight (with Aldo),” he said. “I’ve studied him for a long time. I know what he’s good at; I know what I’m good at. I know I can make any fight a war and make it my fight. I’m excited to do it again. I took a lot of lessons away from that fight, and some that have molded me into who I am – all my losses, really, but that one in particular. And I’d like to get it back.”
The victory for Swanson at UFC Fight Night 108 earned him a $50,000 “Fight Of The Night” bonus check.
