Mike Perry Defeats Michael “Venom” Page at BKFC 27: London
Bellator star Michael “Venom” Page’s bareknuckle boxing debut ended in defeat to UFC veteran “Platinum” Mike Perry. After a brutal five round battle that saw both men bloodied, the score was a split draw and necessitated an overtime sixth round to decide the fight, which Perry won.
Perry scored the only knockdown of the fight in the first round, and pressured most of the fight as Page settled into his normal counter-punching approach.
“Sh*t, I said I was gonna do six rounds, and he said, ‘You don’t go to a draw with me,’” Perry said post-fight “They were gonna give it to me at the end of five, but I walked out and told a lie, because I wanted more bloody, baby.”
After that, Perry wasted no time before calling out Jake Paul for a fight that no one wants to see.
“Jake Paul, you need an opponent. You need a money fight. I’m the real money fight. Maybe I’ll put the pillows back on if you’re scared to get in here.”
Page took the bout while still under contract with Bellator MMA, and has to ask real questions as to where he goes from here. With both his MMA career on shaky legs and now his introduction to boxing going the way it did.
“I have to say, Mike Perry, I underestimated him a little bit,” Page commented. “Very tough man. …
“I thought I did enough in terms of landing. He was definitely the more pressure fighter, but I thought I landed a little bit more. But it doesn’t matter. I didn’t make it decisive to the judges.” (H/T MMA Junkie for transcription)
