Jaden Newman Discusses Winning Scenic City Invitational 2022 Tournament

The Scenic City Invitational has become one of the top independent wrestling tournaments over the years.

The tournament showcases talent from the southeast scene and has featured performers such as Riddle, Daniel Garcia, Marko Stunt, JD Drake, Chris Hero, Lio Rush, and more.

Jaden Newman won the 2022 Scenic City Invitational on August 8, defeating Adam Priest, Billie Starkz, and Kevin Ku in the finals. Newman defeated Ashton Starr in the first round and Myron Reed in the semifinals to earn his spot in the four-way.

Newman has been one of the top names on the southeast scene and is a former SUP Bonestorm Champion.

Speaking to Fightful’s Stephen Jensen, Newman commented on his tournament victory.

“It’s going great. I’m the crowned king of the Scenic City now. Uncrowned no more. Do you remember when we were sitting up there at the top of the gym, we were looking down on the tournament and I told you that one day, I was going to be in that ring and I was going to win. I did it. Three years later,” he said.

Asked about the reaction to his victory, Newman said, “It’s really weird. A lot of the fanbase has been super supportive, especially the out of town people. It’s not just been treated like, ‘Oh, the local hometown guy got it.’ No, one of the best wrestlers in the world won a very prestigious tournament. That means a lot to me because I feel I’ve done a lot to show that I’m not only just a local guy. I do a lot for the Chattanooga area with TWE Chattanooga, my peers, my students, and my partners, but I have worked so hard to establish myself as one of the best wrestlers in the world. To get that respect from peers, fans, alike, it’s amazing. It means the world to me that they took it in so well and it was accepted.

As far as what’s next for Newman, he will be going to Canada in two weeks and then travel to Germany for wXw in October. He called it a “level up” tour.

He also said he has unfinished business with reigning SUP Bonestorm Champion Alec Price and IWTV Independent Wrestling World Champion AC Mack.
