Solo Sikoa Regains His Crown, ‘Melo Don’t Miss, Axiom’s Heroic Feat | NXT Fight Size

This week on NXT 2.0, champions retained their titles, rivals settled the score, and new stars shined in the spotlight.

Here is your post-NXT 2.0 fight size update for August 2.

– Solo Sikoa is once again the king of the streets. Von Wagner previously got the drop on him and laid the fan-favorite out at a SmackDown taping. The two powerhouses clashed in a Falls Count Anywhere match on Tuesday, and Sikoa emerged victorious after he hit a frog splash through the broadcast table. In a WWE Digital Exclusive after the show, Sikoa stated that anyone who wants to step up can come and get it.

– Carmelo Hayes kept rolling this week. In honor of his birthday, he hosted an open challenge for his NXT North American Championship. Giovanni Vinci initially answered the invitation, but Nathan Frazer ran to the ring and took the opportunity for himself. Despite a valiant effort, Hayes scored the win when Vinci interfered and cost his new adversary the match.

– Duke Hudson warned everyone about the dangers of believing in your heroes, but he could have used superpowers on Tuesday. He confronted Axiom and criticized the masked man’s size, leading to a brawl between the two. Hudson left the high-flyer lying, but Axiom wanted to show the world what heroes are made of, so he challenged Hudson to a match. Though he was at a disadvantage, he still walked away with the victory.

– The Creed Brothers defended the NXT Tag Team Championship against Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo. The brothers showcased the chemistry that has launched them to the top of the division, but the challengers had the duo on the ropes. In the end, Santos Escobar stopped D’Angelo from using a crowbar and hit him with the weapon, which helped the Creeds clinch the victory. Later in the show, Escobar and D’Angelo agreed to have one final meeting next week.

– The Creed Brothers weren’t the only champions who gained momentum this week; NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose defeated Sarray in a non-title match. After the bell, she attacked her opponent’s leg with a chair, but Zoey Stark made the save and cleared her out of the ring.

– Seemingly motivated by Starks’ actions, Rose approached Cora Jade backstage and encouraged her to take her challenger at NXT Heatwave out. Jade initially wasn’t on board with the idea, but when Rose told her that she would get the title shot if Stark was unable to compete, she reconsidered.

– JD McDonagh remains determined to dissect NXT Champion Bron Breakker. At a NXT Heatwave Summit, he vowed to methodically tear Breakker apart and win the title when they collide in two weeks. To show the champion how serious he is, McDonagh signed the contract for the match in his own blood. Meanwhile, Breakker declared that he’s an animal when the title is on the line.

– NXT has a new set of Women’s Tag Team Champions. One week after Roxanne Perez took one of the titles out of the trash, a four-way bout for the gold crowned the new champions. In the end, Katana Chance and Kayden Carter won the titles. Later in the show, they celebrated their triumph, saying it was especially sweet after they dealt with several obstacles throughout their journey.

– Speaking of Perez, she delivered an emotional message about Cora Jade’s betrayal, saying that their friendship meant more to her than any title. Angered by Jade’s actions, she challenged her to a match at NXT Heatwave, but the latter declined.

– Jade may have refused Perez’s challenge, but Wes Lee fared better than the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion. He challenged Trick Williams to a Rounds Match so they can combine his wrestling skills and Williams’ emphasis on boxing. The broadcast team subsequently confirmed the bout for next week’s show.

– Despite her loss in the battle royal a few weeks ago, Tiffany Stratton remains confident that her focus and her athleticism set her apart from her peers.

– Joe Gacy’s mission to spread his message continues. After a backstage confrontation with Brooks Jensen, he battled one-half of the NXT UK Tag Team Champions. The interference of Pretty Deadly helped him win the contest, and after the bell, he shifted his focus to Cameron Grimes. Gacy spoke to the camera and said he can help the former NXT North American Champion. Grimes was listening backstage, and he walked away at the conclusion of Gacy’s statement.

– Alba Fyre is on a hot streak. She has been feuding with Lash Legend in recent weeks, but she seemingly extinguished the rivalry by picking up a decisive win over the outspoken star. In a WWE Digital Exclusive, she made it clear that she was happy she finally shut Legend up.

– Nikkita Lyons wasn’t impressed by Kiana James’ presentation that highlighted her flaws. She responded and told James that she won’t change for anyone. She then dared James to face her in the ring next week.

– Following Santos Escobar’s return, Legado Del Fantasma discussed their reunion in a WWE Digital Exclusive. Escobar stated that the group is the strongest family in NXT.
