Leila Grey looks back on her WWE SmackDown debut.
Grey appeared on the April 22 episode of the show; as Cat Cardoza, she faced Raquel Rodriguez in the latter’s first televised match on the blue brand. Grey went on to become an interim Baddie with All Elite Wrestling.
During a virtual signing with Captain’s Corner, Grey discussed her brief time on SmackDown and stated that she thinks it went very well.
“Well it was an unforgettable experience. Working with WWE was great. So the fact that I got to wrestle Raquel Gonzalez in her debut match on SmackDown, so it was both of our debuts, and I think we both killed it. I think we did a great job, it was a lot of fun, and I don’t know what else to say about that. It was definitely an experience that I will never forget,” Grey said.
Grey was also asked about her dream matches. She responded by naming Sasha Banks, saying, “If it’s anybody in the world, I would like to wrestle Sasha Banks. Sasha Banks is my favorite wrestler, she’s definitely an inspiration to me, and she would be my ultimate dream match. We might see if if Sasha comes to AEW.”
Banks’ future with WWE is unclear. The former champion was reportedly removed from WWE’s internal roster after she and Naomi walked out of the May 16 episode of WWE RAW. The duo was subsequently suspended indefinitely and stripped of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
