Chad Mendes Blames USADA Drug Test Failure On Psoriasis Cream

Chad Mendes has finally spoken out about his United States Anti-Doping Agency violation, and he’s pointing the finger at a psoriasis cream.

The three-time featherweight title challenger Mendes appeared on The Drive Thursday, and gave his side on the failed USADA test that caused him to be suspended for two years.

“I’ve always just accepted it and put it on, not thinking about anything,” Mendes said on the show (via MMA Fighting). “This is one of the cases that it had something in it that was on the USADA quote-unquote banned list. My situation was just kind of bad luck, I feel. Ultimately, I broke the rules. Did I use it? Of course. I didn’t try going to USADA and making some BS story and tried to lie my way out of it.”

Mendes tested positive for GHRP-6, a substance in which Mendes claimed he had no idea about. Mendes mentioned that a two-year ban is a long time, but was concerned about being labeled as a steroid user.

“One thing i want to clear up to a lot of people calling me ‘roid head or juice head: This isn’t even a steroid, it’s a peptide,” said Mendes.
