On the July 18 edition of WWE Raw, Becky Lynch announced in the opening promo of the show that she would be challenging for the Raw Women’s Championship at the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view. After Bianca Belair successfully defended the red brand’s title against Carmella, the latest bout was made official for the biggest party of the summer.

Lynch and Belair have faced off in singles action on pay-per-view three times before. The first time came at last year’s SummerSlam event, where Lynch made her return from a year long hiatus and defeated the ‘E.S.T’ in a Smackdown Women’s Title Match. Most recently, Belair defeated Lynch at WrestleMania 38 to capture the Raw Women’s Championship.
