Throughout a large portion of Titus O’Neil’s career, Darren Young (currently known as Fred Rosser) has been right by his side, Together, the duo have teamed together hundreds of times and even had a reign with the WWE Tag Team Championships back in 2015.
In a new interview with Fightful, O’Neil was asked about Rosser’s current run in New Japan Pro Wrestling and how he feels about his former tag partner continuing to do big things outside of WWE.
“We just [texted] on Monday in a group text with a mutual friend, [Nick Baroni]. He’s a teacher up in New Jersey. I’m just extremely proud of him for continue chasing his dreams, not allowing him not being in WWE to hinder him from going out and doing and trying other things. The guy’s done Broadway plays. Obviously he’s continued to compete in the ring. He’s tried some stuff. Some stuff he probably wouldn’t have tried had he not been released from WWE. But I think that if the opportunity comes back for him to rejoin the company, I think he’ll be an even more well rounded performer, he’ll be an even more well rounded person. He was already a great person to start with. So these life experiences he’s going through right now and the success that he’s garnering is nothing short of expected, really, from me. Because he’s one of the hardest working people that I know. He’s very hard on himself. Hopefully he’s not as hard on himself as he used to be. But I’m sure that there’s still some type of perfectionist in him and I have to tell him all the time, ‘None of us are perfect. Perfection is not the goal. Being the best human being you possibly can be should be the goal.’ So, remember that, Darren. Be the best that you can be and nobody else can be disappointed.”
Although Rosser recently won the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship from Tom Lawlor, he commented on the potential of becoming a coach in NXT one day. Click here to learn more.
