Impact Update: Indie Star Verbally Agrees to Deal, Original LAX Plans
Impact Wrestling reportedly is adding another competitor to its roster.
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Impact and Dezmond Xavier verbally agreed on a contract. Xavier is expected to start with the company at its next set of tapings in Florida, which run April 20 through April 23.
A pro since 2011, Xavier has been very active on the independent scene as of late. In 2017 alone he has appeared for prominent independent promotions such as PWG, AAW, FIP, CZW, and Wrestle Circus — along with a host of others.
The Observer also reported that Impact recently had talks with the indie tag team of Jake and Dave Crist.
In other news, the Observer recently noted that the revival of LAX originally was going to have a very different look. According to the publication, the new-look LAX roster was going to include Monsta Mack and Dan Maff, who have been a tag team together for nearly two decades as Da Hit Squad. However, they were unable to attend the tapings in March because of their commitments at their regular jobs. Angel Ortiz and Mike Draztik replaced Mack and Maff in the faction, joining holdovers Konnan and Homicide, as well as fellow Impact newcomer Diamante. PWInsider reported that both Mack and Maff still might make their way to Impact at some point in the future.
Ortiz and Draztik, who works under the name of Santana in Impact, are the current tag champions for the promotion.
