Trent Beretta Reveals Original Plans For Wheeler Yuta And Best Friends

In 2021, Wheeler Yuta would join Chuckie T and Orange Cassidy in the Best Friends as Trent Beretta was sidelined.

When Trent returned at the end of 2021, he questioned Yuta’s place in the Best Friends. The story would eventually lead to Yuta leaving the Best Friends to join the Blackpool Combat Club after earning the respect of William Regal, Jon Moxley, and Bryan Danielson.

Speaking on the Battleground podcast, Trent explained the original plans for the storyline.

“Honestly, it’s better for him,” Trent said of Yuta joining the Blackpool Combat Club. “The way he got put in Best Friends was super weird and a hard situation for him to be in as a wrestler. Like, ‘Who is this new guy who is suddenly best friends with these guys I knew?’ The whole reason I was being upset with it is that we were planning on doing our own angle where we would eventually have a match and he would win my respect. I was like, ‘He needs something for people to grab on to.’ That’s why we did that, then it ended up working out a completely different way where I was mean to him for no reason and then he left.”

The Best Friends are whole again with Orange Cassidy returning from his shoulder injury.

Trent, Cassidy & Rocky Romero will take on The United Empire (Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis & Will Ospreay) on the June 22 episode of AEW Dynamite. Fans can check out the current lineup for the show by clicking here.
